SLAF

Privacy Policy for Slaf

Short version first:

We collect as little as possible, we sell nothing, and we try not to be creepy.

What's the deal?

Slaf is built by a slaf – for other slafs. That applies to how we treat your data too.

We don't think a social network should feel like someone's standing behind you analysing everything you do. You should be able to hang out here without feeling watched.

What data we collect

We only store what's needed for the service to work:

  • ●your email address (to log in)
  • ●what you choose to post yourself (posts, comments, images)
  • ●technical info needed for operation (e.g. IP address on login, logs)

Nothing weird. Nothing hidden.

What we DON'T do

We:

  • ●don't sell your data
  • ●don't share your data with third parties for marketing purposes
  • ●don't build profiles to manipulate you
  • ●don't try to "optimise your behaviour"

In short: we're not trying to be that kind of network.

How we use your data

What we collect is used to:

  • ●let you log in and use Slaf
  • ●show your content to others (if you share it)
  • ●keep the site secure and functioning

Nothing more than that.

The images on the login page

The login page shows images of real Slaf users. That's not random — they have actively chosen to appear there.

We show no one without permission. Full stop.

If you ask for an invitation

If you don't have an account, you can ask for an invitation on the start page. We then store:

  • ●your email address
  • ●the name or nickname you give
  • ●your message, if you write one

Nothing else, not even your IP address. Only Slaf's administrators see the request, and we use it only to answer you (a step you asked for yourself before becoming a member, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). If we say yes, you get an invitation code by email, and the address is stored together with the code until you create an account with it, for at most 90 days. The code keeps working after that. If we say no, we don't get in touch.

A request nobody has answered is deleted after 90 days, and an answered one 30 days after the answer. If you create an account with the code, the request is deleted at once. If we email you a code without you asking, the address is stored the same way, for at most 90 days. Want us to delete any of it sooner? Get in touch and we will.

Cookies and tracking

We only use what's needed to:

  • ●keep you logged in
  • ●make the site work

No aggressive tracking.

No third-party trackers following you around the internet.

How long we keep data

  • ●Your account stays until you delete it
  • ●Logs are kept as long as needed for security and operation

One more thing: when you accept the terms we store which version you accepted, when it happened and your IP address. That's our receipt that the acceptance actually took place (legitimate interest under GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). The receipt is kept for seven years and then pruned automatically.

Want to leave? That should be easy.

Your rights

You always have the right to:

  • ●know what data we have about you
  • ●have it changed
  • ●have it deleted

Contact us and we'll sort it out. No complicated processes.

Security

We do our best to protect your data.

No system is perfect, but we treat your information with respect.

Changes

If we change anything here, we'll let you know.

No sneaky changes.
